Milen Mehari is a proud native of Keren, Eritrea. She is a rising senior at the University of Mary Washington, studying Women and Gender Studies, English, and Digital Studies. Milen loves storytelling, the moments wherein folks find the humanity in one another’s experiences. In the future, she hopes to continue to bring love and kindness to the fight for Eritrean liberation.




Jason Gaddie is a senior in college. Born on July 1990 in Winchester, Massachusetts. He was raised in Methuen for eight years and went on to live in Flower Mound and El Paso, Texas; Okinawa, Japan; Bellingham, Washington; and Anaheim, California. He currently lives in Stafford, Virginia. He has been to thirty-three out of the fifty states and has visited three different countries. He graduated from Fullerton College in 2014, with an Associate’s Degree in History.


Lakelyn Wiley is a rising senior history major at UMW. Her interest in history is
vast and covers a wide variety of topics such as the Ottoman Empire and Turkey, the Cold War and Russia, 19th and 20th-century American history, and medieval history. Her thesis for the fall of 2018 will be focused on Liberia and the emigration of African American Freedmen in the 19th century. When she is not buried under mountains of books and paperwork, Lakelyn enjoys running, reading, watching the Office, and volunteering for AdventureTails at the Fredericksburg SPCA. She is excited about her approaching graduation and cannot wait to see what life post-grad has to offer!


Rachel Dacey is a graduating senior and history major, with her focus of study on ancient and Medieval British history. After graduation, she will be assisting Alexandria Archaeology in their summer dig at Shuter’s Hill in Alexandria, VA before flying to England and assisting the Sussex Archaeological Society in their summer dig at the Plumpton Romano-British villa in England. In 2019 she aims to gain a Masters degree in Heritage Management from Bath Spa University, with her eyes set on another Masters in the Conservation of Historic Buildings by 2020! In the future, she would like to go into a career with museum work or preservation.
